Lady A and Boyz II Men have joined forces on “I Love The One,” a new collaboration inspired by the hit historical drama series “The Chosen.”
The song is the third single from “Songs Inspired by The Chosen: Seasons 1–5,” an upcoming collection of original music inspired by the first five seasons of the series. The track brings together the country trio’s harmonies with the R&B group’s signature vocal blend for a six-part performance centered on themes of faith, healing, hope and spiritual transformation.
Lady A’s Hillary Scott co-wrote the song, drawing inspiration from biblical stories as well as her personal connection to “The Chosen.” Scott said she began watching the series with her teenage daughter and was particularly moved by the story of a woman who is healed after touching Jesus’ garment. “Collaborating with Boyz II Men on this song is a ‘pinch me’ moment for all of us. Their voices have been in my ears my whole life, so to hear us harmonize brings tears and goosebumps,” Scott said.
Boyz II Men said the project also connected with their longstanding relationship with faith and their belief in music’s ability to serve a greater purpose. The collaboration marks a meeting of two groups known for their vocal harmonies, bringing Lady A’s country-pop sound together with Boyz II Men’s R&B-rooted style. The accompanying lyric video incorporates scenes from “The Chosen,” including depictions of Jesus’ miracles.
The album “I Love The One” is part of “Songs Inspired by The Chosen: Seasons 1–5” is scheduled for release Oct. 30 and also features music from artists including Tyler Hubbard and Jamie MacDonald. The project is arriving ahead of the sixth season of “The Chosen,” which is scheduled to begin streaming on Prime Video Nov. 15.
